Global entry not working; 3 machines unable to read passport
I first was approved for Global Entry in 2009. I renewed it in 2014. I got a new passport in April 2015. I successfully entered the USA in May 2015, using a GOES machine at LAX. This month, I flew into SAN on an international flight. Ultimately, 3 machines did not read my passport info. I plugged in my passport info by hand and got a message that I wasn't approved for Global Entry. The immigration officer was unable to get a machine to read my passport but did find my information online.
Today, I logged into my Global Entry account and found my prior passport info. I've now updated it with my current passport info. Is there more that I should do? I find it troubling that 3 machines were unable to read my passport info. Even if I wasn't in the program, shouldn't they be able to read my info?
What perplexes me is that my husband went thru his GOES renewal on the same day as me and got his new passport on the same day as me. The machine had no trouble reading his passport. I looked at his online information and it also showed expired passport information. Thus I have little confidence that updating my information will solve the problem.
I need to mail my passport in for a visa for an upcoming trip. If there is something I need to do with the passport, I need to do it quickly.
