Advice on beating Jetlag from East Coast (US)?

I am planning my trip back home to London and would like some advice on how best to handle jet lag. Back in the day it was never an issue however I only have a short time in London and don't want to waste a week trying to get over it.

I am based in SFO and am looking at the cheapest Premium Economy option but also trying to factor in the jet lag issue. I don't trust myself taking BA286 as I know I will pass out as soon as I get home. BA268 from LA looking fairly decent as it lands at 4 pm, so by the time I get home I could hold out and go to bed at a normal time.

With regards to this flight being on an A380, is their Premium Economy any good compared to Virgin? I am not really interested in Avois anymore, just want to get from A to B at the most comfortable cheapest price.

The other option would be taking the night flight with AA to JFK and connecting onto a morning flight to London which gets in around 8 pm. Obviously this would be a straight economy flight and is also a bit of a ballache connecting on the East Coast. Has anyone had this sort of an issue before and how did you handle/plan around it?

Cheers ^
