If you're into deli, these two are great but avoid Ben Ash (across from the Carnegie) at all costs! I also would have to suggest Aquavit.

If you're into eating alfresco, you can try Soup Kitchen International (famous from Seinfeld) at 259 W. 55th St. It's between 8th Ave. and Broadway.
