I posted my question in this thread...

....but I fear it may get lost.
I am inviting a longtime friend from Pennsylvania to visit us for one of our nights in NY.
They are extremely short on $$$. In fact, I am probably going to consider treating for their one night hotel so it's not a burden.
They CAN drive to the city, but SHOULD they?
They will be traveling Pottstown, PA to NY, 2 adults and a 14 m.o.
Options as I see it are to DRIVE somewhere near NY and park for 36 hours at a lesser rate than IN the city and take a subway or something into the city to the hotel.
OR, take a bus to Penn Station and then a subway to the hotel.
I guess, besides cost, the other factor is they will have luggage and a baby to take from either the car parking lot or Penn Station.
Thanks
