I can easily get an Alaska mileage plan ticket for YVR-AMS with KLM planning well in advance, but it seems to be impossible to go beyond AMS, for example to Warsaw, unless I buy a separate inter-city award ticket AMS-WAW. This changes the cost from 65,000 to 95,000 miles RT economy class. Delta offers the same trip YVR-WAW for 60,000 miles RT with their mileage plan. It's a similar story using Air France. Delta, Air France and KLM are really putting the screws to Alaska Air.
