The AS iOS app is relatively simple but does the core things well.
Little things like showing the confirmation code and number of flights right on the home screen, the individual flights showing the three key tasks using icons (Seats, Check-In and Boarding Pass) and also having Waitlists showing above the fold (at least on a iPhone 5s).
I do think the current AA and Delta apps are quite good too with travel day notifications showing on the feed and the parking reminder under the More menu.
I'm afraid I personally can't give the revamped AS app my unqualified vote of acceptance until they are able to show me my seat assignment for a flight without requiring me to click through multiple screens.
For me that's not negotiable - I want to see the seat assignment on the home screen on the first click in. Even better, on the home screen with the confirmation code and flight number.
