Are you referring to the Contract of Carriage? There is a lot of information on it but there is nothing specific that addresses if the buyer cancels the ticket, mostly it covers if UA cancels the trip. Sorry for being so clueless. These airlines really get you. I honestly thought that since I purchased the travel insurance this would not be an issue.

No. Fare rules are different from contract of carriage.

This isnt the airlines getting you. When you buy life insurance, it doesn't cover death from all causes. When you buy homeowners insurance, it doesn't cover you taking a sledgehammer to your own roof.
