Another benefit is GfL, a.k.a Gold for Life. Currently that is given at 35,000 tier points, easily achieved in a few years of intensive business class flying.
Although they could and probably will move the goal posts at some point so it's difficult to rely on something that will take a few years to achieve but still, compare that to LY's misery gold for life given at the age of 67 if you have had gold for at least the 10 years prior. I have a chance of getting GfL with BA quite soon at a much younger age.
