If the stopover is not a problem, then it would apply even more so. An EL AL D class ticket from TLV to NYC costs well over $5000. That is the cheapest which earns full business class tier points. The equivalent ticket on BA (I class) costs just under $3000. So you would be saving $20-$30,000 a year for what is, on balance, a far better product, with better benefits (you would easily get GGL and a Concorde Room card at that level of flying).
