This is ridiculous

I also think most pax with devices need to have some preloaded entertainment, because any seat could have a bad screen / malfunctioning IFE and a $100 ecert voucher isn't going to help during the flight. In the old days we didn't have this stuff (when IFE was down) but now we do, and I think a smartphone screen is a more optimal size for a limited seat space.
I flew paid F w/my daughter PDX-IAD on brand new 737-900s w/0 AVOD. 5 hours E bound and 6 hour return.
I will not do this again. Happy to stop in MSP and have a one hour layover and go into National rather than nonstop to IAD as the miles are pretty much equally worthless. And on paid F, I got about the actual miles flown which in the greater scheme of things is simply not worth the hassle. I'll continue to fly UAL from PDX-ORD but no more transcontinental....
