Has the OP added in the benefit of BA's OnBusiness scheme to the mix? Register this to an Israel-based company and the Israeli scheme as it's pegged to a lower spend to hit the better accrual rates than the UK-based scheme. If your wife and kids are involved in your business as consultants or directors, you(r company) can accrue points on all their flights too.
You can choose between up to 5% off your bookings or accruing OnBusiness points - there are some sweet spots for doing the latter. Based on what you say your travel patterns are, you should cross the $30k/yr threshold and earn 1.25 points per dollar.
I'd recommend collecting points over taking discounts. They save on average about 5 cents per point compared to a purchased fare in my experience, and much more in the sweet spots (I'm doing a 1st Class to SYD next year for 90k when the ticket retails for $9k, for example).
LatusElAl, it's even more stark for TLV-NYC. I do this route 4x a year in biz class. El Al typically want at least $3500 a ticket. I've just done it with IB for $2200, and in the past have done it on BA in the sale for $2500, and even did TLV-LHR//LCY-JFK-LAX for under $3000. Add in regular Avios bonuses for transatlantic travel, and (as long as changing planes doesn't bother you - for me it's great as I take a 24h stop and see family) it's really a no-brainer.
Oh and actually BA's office in Tel Aviv and ground staff at Ben Gurion are small enough that they absolutely do know and look after their regular travellers. I have many stories of them helping me out - and vice versa (for example when they were desperate for a voluntary downgrader).
