If you break it down it's not excessive at all. Over the past few days I've been searching for availability from six possible gateways in the US to five in Asia, across all three alliances, in either business or F, with both TATL and TPAC as options. Even checking just once a day (with only occasional segment by segment searches) it's easy to get to over 1,000 enquiries in a week.
Presumably, those would be
Award Availability searches via the main
KVS Tool application, which does not have any search limits.
