I tried to change the original ticket and was quote £3,500 per person for economy. Whilst I have to return home, I do not have a bottomless pit of money in which to get there!
Sorry, I am trying to give you advice here from repeated personal experience. Dropping everything to fly halfway round the world is an inevitable feature of the way that my family is located.
To put it bluntly, I think that you will not get much joy from the call centre. Go to the airport, preferably with evidence, and explain that you just want to use your ticket to get back to London in any seat on any flight.
