If you have time, I HIGHLY recommend getting a copy of
The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. You will definitely find it worth the $12! I borrowed a copy from a co-worker and was extremely glad I did. There are insider tips in that book that you will not find anywhere else.
I just got back from a trip to WDW (my first) from 1/9 - 1/12, and there were hardly any lines at the attractions and rides...even the most popular ones like Space Mountain, etc. If there was a wait over 15 minutes we got a FastPass and came back a little later. The book I recommended does a really good job of giving you an idea of what times of year are busier than others, and also recommends itineraries for each park that will save you time waiting in line if you're there with the crowds.
A restaurant recommendation: Spoodles on the Boardwalk near Epcot...excellent food! More expensive than the restaurants in the parks, but worlds better. Make "priority seating" reservations.
