I just bought a PHL-LAS one-way for $16.11 total, at the ACY airport Spirit counter. What I found and maybe it's for ACY only, is Spirit only sell tickets between 8am-6:30pm. They have a separate line for ticket sales, so that customers that are just purchasing a carry-on or checked bag for a same day flight aren't in the same line.
It kind of felt like the experience of buying a ticket at a Greyhound station just to go up to NY. They even provide a sleeve with receipt like Greyhound. ACY's short term is 15 minutes for free and fortunately, I was able to get in and out at just 15 minutes or so. It's $2 I think for the first hour. I could have gone to PHL and parked in short term, but I felt like heading to ACY.
Thanks for sharing the story. While some of us are in better shape than others for buying at airport counters, I've noticed that even outside this sale they've had to chronically discount certain short routes, such as ones like ATL-MCO or ATL-CLE where they go head-to-head with F9 and the legacies, as well as occasionally ATL-ORD/DFW where they're also being resisted. Something like $34.10 standard each way on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday isn't unusual even outside a sale, so buying those at the airport if convenient to lower the total to $16-ish might be doable at a more leisurely pace without having to drop everything and go down there right away.
