Still remember boarding an SAM flight (Servicios Aéreos de Medellín;defunct now) in ADZ (San Andrés) in the mid-90s and asking where the smoking section was. Turned out it was just take any seat and light up when the sign goes off.
Somewhat related: what was the last airline to allow smoking on TATL flights? Was is Aeroflot? I seem to remember a bit of a diplomatic row between the US and Russia over this. Where the US said our destination, our rules and the Russians said our planes, our rules.
And Air France still had the smoker's lounge in the back for a while after all the seats had become non-smoking.
