Why cannot book W, V, Q (for GPU upgrade), but can book K or S?
I saw R spaces available for a SFO-TPE UA871 flight. When I tried to book Economy it returned a one-way S fare of $575, or a RT K fare of $913. In order to use my GPU, I need a W fare ticket. But when I specify W, or V, or Q, even H, united.com would not want to sell me a ticket. Fare class shows B9, M9, E9, U9, H9, HN9, Q9, V9, W9, S9, T9, L9, K9. They only will sell M and B. Why is this?
Is it that when R is available, UA closes the door for us to use GPU? So either you pay the deep discount fare that you need to pay the $600 copay with 30K miles to upgrade, or you pay M or B to use GPU?
