BFM is the former Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile, Ala. High humidity and salty air is not where you'd store a plane for long. BFM is host to Airbus North America, VTMAE (aircraft maintenance), and several other companies.

AA2517 downgraded from a refurbished 767 to a domestic 757. Called and the GLD desk stated that the original 767 had been damaged somehow. Curious.
These are all related. At least 2 763s were ferried to BFM for emergency repairs after they were damaged during a microburst at MIA on July 3rd. The storm also took out a 77W but I'm not sure of its current status.
