Note you can also book a lower cost day room at the excellent Sofitel LHR T5 which is connected to the terminal you will fly into.
I was kind of thinking it may be a good idea to try and go to the busiest sight right when it opens that first morning if we are going to be up anyway? Anyone had any experience going to the Parthenon or National Museum right when they open? Will crowds be a non-issue in early November?
No crowds at the Parthenon in the morning. That's the best time to go IMHO. And I doubt there'd be much of a crowd problem in the afternoon in November. But my advice is even with your body clocks being on Denver time, you'll be tired after all that travel. It should actually work in your favor as you will be beat when you arrive and can maybe get a good night's sleep at the Sofitel ATH. Even if you sleep in til 10am, you can make it into town, drop your bags at the next hotel and make it up to the Parthenon before lunch time. And at the bottom of the hill you'll find loads of restaurants for a mid-day snack.
