I think what you're asking is - How often does cheap fare out of your airline's hub occur? I've been monitoring the MR forum and various cheap-fare newsletters for years, and I can tell you that the answer is - Not generally. It does happen, but fairly rare. You are better off getting familiar with efficient ways to position yourself to other major airports. I.e. using BA miles, train, drive, etc.
