Interesting idea to switch to the original, later, flight. I certainly wouldn't take that kind of risk given you're thinking about parts arriving from Gatwick, someone fitting them successfully, and then getting slots within constraints of take off/landing time slots (do LGW or BDA close overnight?) and crew hours.
