John Wayne Airport (SNA, Orange County) has a curfew for commercial operations. It prohibits commercial departures between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM (8:00 AM on Sundays) and commercial arrivals between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM (8:00AM on Sundays). General aviation is not subject to the curfew. Commercial flights would be allowed to land for emergencies and, to some extent, for irrops, but a flight departing too late to arrive at SNA before the 11:00 PM curfew would most likely be canceled.
I was on a flight to SNA once that got re-routed to LAX due to missing the curfew. We got bussed to SNA and I believe they flew the aircraft empty to SNA the next morning.
