This used to be my advice, but now I would not suggest this. Something seems to have happened with Web Services (I'm thinking outsourcing, but can't confirm - just based on a commonality of accents across three agents) that has seriously degraded their performance.
I've heard the rumour (and had it partially confirmed) that AA.com web services has been outsourced to the Phillipines.
