There are a lot of reasons to not like the 787, but as someone who likes darkness to drift in/out of sleep without an elastic band around my eyes - the FAs being able to darken all windows at once isn't one of them. From that perspective it'll be nice once the route goes 789.

I don't expect agreement from everyone, but for the majority of pax who travel without eye shades a window open even 1/3 brightens the whole cabin section (~100 people) enough to be disturbing and remind them it isn't a natural time to sleep. Call me selfish for wanting them closed, but it is selfish for wanting it open when it does disrupt far more people than having the window open benefits.

I have yet to notice AC forget to announce passengers need to collect their checked bags after customs. I'm wondering if you just missed this announcement, IIRC it is standard in that book they read all the announcements out of.

Unfortunate experience. But I've never been treated consistently bad by so many staff at any airline. If one is being consistently treated poorly it is probably because of the attitude they are giving off. Not laying the blame entirely at your feet here, but in life that is what I've noticed. I smile and get smiled back at.
