Indeed, I don't want people to be unnecessarily alarmed.

I'm not an HBO person at all, normally only ever travelling HBO for trips under 4-5 days' duration, and often having 3-4 bags.

I cannot remember having anything broken at all except when the flights involve Sydney, and quite often I carry fragile items - some of them included rather a lot of porcelain plates and dishes that I did not entrust movers to carry.

So, there is no need to be unduly alarmed, but it would be a good idea to have some good quality padding material to protect it in case it can't be carried in the cabin.
