Gatwick Groper
Mrs S and I went through Gatwick North (Thursday, 4:30ish) and both got selected for a customary frisk, however our experiences couldn't have been more different. Hers started 20 seconds after mine and finished 30 seconds before mine ended, but the main difference was the extent to which I was touched up throughout.
it started with the security guy (chubbyish, stubble, about 5'10") using both hands on my forearm, with a very firm squeeze indeed. I thought "hello, this is different". what followed was simply the same ongoing firm squeeze and grope of pretty much my whole body (including upper groin to the point of being cupped) and when it came to the "waist-band", this guys' finger tips went right inside my underpants such that I could feel them on my pubes. I had already gotten my wife's attention to clock what was happening and glanced up at the cctv to ensure that I was visible... I was. I was approaching the limit of what I could endure but was able to "keep the heid". As soon as it was over and I was allowed to 'go on my way', we both went over to the security supervisors' position and asked to have a discreet word. I was taken very seriously indeed and they undertook to look at the cctv and have a word with the operative.
I was shaking a little, and not sure even now if it was anger or shock or both, but Mrs S' presence kept me calm enough that I didn't raise my voice. Having made my complaint, we left the supervisor to it. I didn't want an apology or anything, just recognition from the supervisor that they had something to follow up on. Supervisor's demeanour was excellent, btw.
My parting comment to them was that we appreciate that whilst they all perform a vital job of keeping us all safe, there must surely be limits. My opinion was this one was getting his jollies, and I think the supervisor understood that. Mrs S then marched me off to recover my composure.
I sincerely hope this is an isolated incident! But I'll be super-vigilant next time I'm at Gatwick and I'd invite my fellow FT'ers to be the same.
