This really isn't about the HWV per se, but since a lot of people on here have done this trip, it seemed like a good place to ask.

In November, we are doing the ALON as Gold members at HWV. The tips on here have been great.

Anyway- does anyone have thoughts/insights/experiences on car rentals?

I am thinking we should rent a 4X4 so that we can try some of the trails in Volcanoes National Park. I know that most car rental companies have specific riders in the contracts that prohibit you from taking the car "off-road".

Any companies on the Big Island better/cheaper than others?

Has anyone used Priceline or Hotwire?
