I did the opposite, I changed my two free credit card nights in Hawaii to Points + Cash when there was no availability anymore. (I had 3 P+C plus 2 CC initially, changed to all 5 P+C). So yes, you can do things like that, but it's very YMMV.
Seems you did what you did using just 1 acct. Thats not what the OP wants to do,they want to CX what they booked and then have another acct in another persons name get the same rooms but using 2 free night certs instead.
Id be surprised if any program would allow this, I've been able to do what you have many times, basically change how I was going to pay for the room, but never was able to cx what I had and have it transferred over to a 2nd persons acct
