Diners Club Rewards; Too good to be true?

Greetings and Happy Holiday's to all

I just received a notice regarding Diner's Club benefits for next year. According to the notice, the DC points are redeemable directly on AC on a 1-1 basis (confirmed by phone with DC) without seat inventory restrictions and blackout dates. Specifically I was told that if there was a seat on the plane and I had the appropriate points in my account, I could redeem a seat.

Has anybody on the board had any experience with DC rewards, service, accessibility etc? and is this a way to get SE type seat availability for non-SE flyers? I am SE but I have many colleagues who are Elite, that I have helped out by giving them seats on my points.

Thanks
DF
