Practice makes perfect as they say. There was an incident a few years back when a UA 744 on takeoff at SFO lost an engine after takeoff. The pilots (4 onboard - 2 flying) forgot how to handle an engine out situation and nearly crashed the plane into a hill (takeoff in the W/NW direction). One of the corrective actions UA took was to put pilots on simulator courses as some were only flying 2 RTs a month and not always actually at the stick for takeoffs and landings.
