Yes, if they do show up it takes forever. I've had them not show up at all so I gave up on asking for assistance, too much hassle. I may be slower then most but I hate to waste time too, it's quicker if I just walk myself. I did once have a cart guy drive past me and offered me a random lift, that was nice.
I have a purse and sometimes my coat, I curbside check my luggage so all I'd need any help with is my own body.

Thank you all for the replies! I always wanted to ask that, I've seen posts about it over the years and just wanted to make sure I wasn't being an idiot traveler. I do avoid the walkway if it's busy or crowded, it would be counterproductive otherwise.
