Mahalo!
I'm not sure what the UA checkpoint looks like, but when I fly AA I use the checkpoint between lobbies 6 and 7 (dumps you right by one of the pathways to the central concourse). Recently, I've noticed they converted that into a PreCheck only zone. I assume this is what slippahs is talking about, though I had no idea it took the place of ALL the other PreCheck lines in the terminal.

I did notice a bunch of construction on the big checkpoint between lobbies 5 and 6 (this is where they were redirecting the non-precheck people when I was there). I didn't realize they were air conditioning it (I hope the other open-air parts of HNL remain that way far into the future). Once they are done with it, will all the other checkpoints in the terminal be closed?

I wish they would just build that Mauka Concourse already that was supposed to have been done 5 years ago. It will make things a lot easier for Hawaiian flyers. I don't know how they will handle ag screening there though (hopefully not a clunky x-ray next to each gate). But of course, before they even start on that, they have to move the commuter terminal which is being held up by higher costs than expected, as well as Island Air's "special design requirements" even though they will probably be out of business by the time the new Diamond Head Commuter Terminal is actually done.
