Thanks for your detailed reply. I bought the Extra Comfort upgrade since it's such a long flight (this will be my first time flying HA farther than the west coast). I don't check bags, so thankfully I won't have that extra complexity to worry about. It also seems like the mobile apps will be more trouble than they're worth, especially since I won't be able to get all my boarding passes with them, and the fact that the Android version of the Hawaiian one has horrible reviews in the Google Play Store, including stories of losing boarding passes at the last minute (eek). I'll try the kiosks first, and go to the check-in agent if that fails.
