August is a suprisingly busy time for Wailea and Maui in general, lots of families vacationing before school starts, etc. So you may have to bite the bullet and pay the going rate. The only time I've seen them advertise special rates are for November and January, excepting of course Thanksgiving and New Year's weeks.
