Refund on gift card I no longer possess
Hoping for some advice. I had booked a flight a couple months ago and had paid $100 with a gift card, with the balance on a credit card. When I called to cancel this flight, I was told the total refund (less the $200 cancellation fee) would be refunded to my credit card. The confirmation email I received also shows a full refund to my credit card. When I got my statement, the credit to my card was short $100. I called Air Canada to enquire and was told the $100 went back on to the gift card I no longer possess. I can't access that credit because I don't have the gift card. I asked for the credit to be put on my credit card as they had initially said would be the case, but the AC rep was quite rude and the only advice she would offer to remedy the situation was to "go on the website and figure it out."
I have no status with AC. Is there any advice you can give?
