I thought perhaps because if the fleet of A380 is small, there is no economies of scale in maintenance.
Certainly CX can operate A380 to a couple of destinations, but perhaps they need more than just half a dozen planes to make it cheaper to maintain on average cost.
EK is operating world's largest seater to CPH, in 2-class if I am not wrong. I wonder how is the load factor.
That said, I wanna ask:
why has no budget airlines bought A380, flood it with econ seats, and flood the market with super cheap fares? If you are a newbie airline, landing slots maybe limited. A380 may solve it for airports that can take A380s.
Unless A380 cost of operation is still too high, but Airbus's argument that a 800-econ seater should yield cheaper per seat cost. (of course, CX will never do that to lower ticket prices)
