Thanks. I had understood the OP to say that changing from business to IFC on the same flight didn't increase the number of miles required. That could have suggested that it was pricing as FC due to some other segment.

Of course you can book domestic connecting flights in coach if FC seats aren't available, but it's usually better to try to find a flight for which FC is available.
