I'm not doubting the 777s in any way they are amazing machines that bring huge economic values not just to CX but many other carriers.
To me things that happen inside the aircrafts are everything to me, namely food, services, IFE and what not. Technically speaking I don't really care if it's an old Mcdonnell Douglas or a propeller Saab as long as I'm getting the nice and consistent service I would expect from that specific airline. I am a passenger after all, not an exec from CX.
As simple as I put it I think it would be nice for CX to operate an A380 given the foreseeable fact that such investment is viable in long term, for instance potentially the HKG-LHR or HKG-EWR routes. In my very limited knowledge I don't know if that's do-able at CX's standpoint - apparently not very much so. As I said by having an A380 it might take CX to another level in inflight experience. From a branding perspective it would have blended in rather beautifully with the Life Well Travelled campaign in my opinion.
