This answer is answered by my general rule to never fly BA long haul east from London. South, southwest, and west - sure. But never east or southeast. There are always better OW options available.

The caveat is when schedule doesn't permit the sometimes necessary additional connection.

But if time permits, I would fly QR via DOH and if not CX via HKG anywhere in Asia/the ME over BA non-stop.
