A story of how Etihad handle delayed baggage

I was traveling back to Geneva from Vietnam via Abu Dhabi with Etihad airways with my sister. When arrived in Geneva on Saturday 4th of July, we (a dozen of people) were told that our baggage were still in Abu Dhabi...

Then the staff from lost baggage helped us in filling the forms etc...Then all the tourists got a 35 swiss francs (37$) compensation per day of delayed baggage but a ZERO compensation for the Geneva residents! okay well, I am still not so upset not receiving compensation as long as I can get my baggage back the next day as the etihad representative told me!

Next day, no news from etihad, so I called the baggage service number given by the etihad guy. So the guy from the baggage service told me that I have to wait one more day...alright lets wait...

Its Monday now, still have no news from etihad...so again I called the baggage service number.. The guy over the telephone was not clear at all, it seems like the luggage are still in Abu Dhabi...So he basically asked me to wait.. okay lets wait...

Tuesday no news....Wednesday no news...the baggage service guy is useless, sorry for this but I really received ZERO info nor help from him and his colleagues!

Thursday: "Only one luggage will arrive today." Okay Great! wait...I have TWO luggage in total, one is my sister's, one is mine! WHERE the HELL is the second one?!? They were supposed to be together, how can they have one and miss the other?! The baggage claim were done together! They should trace the 2 luggage AT THE SAME TIME!!! okay so my sister got her baggage (in a very bad shape....) back but mine is still "somewhere".

Well, i again called the baggage service number, so apparently my baggage is still in Abu Dhabi and the sticker referencing my luggage is gone so the identification of my luggage is getting more difficult...wait, how can they know that the sticker is gone?! They have seen it?

Really I am pissed, I dont know what they are doing with my baggage. Etihad staff keep on telling me lies! On the first day, etihad guys assured me that they have all my luggage identified in Abu Dhabi and there is no problem, I will get them back the next day. Now, i hear that they actually lost my baggage in Abu Dhabi.

What's even more frustrating now is that I called AGAIN the baggage service number, the etihad staff told me that they see in the status that TWO baggage were delivered and the file is closed..... REALLY?!??!

now, the baggage service guy told me that he will call me back...okay lets wait again.....Good news now, I finally got some useful info. The reason why it has taken that much time is that my sister's bagage « may » have been sent by error into another destination...and MY baggage has actually never left Abu Dhabi.

But WHY my sister's baggage that has travelled into another unknown destination has come home already whereas mine which has not moved at all is still in Abu Dhabi? There is a real problem of transparency…

Then, by magic, I have been notified that my luggage has arrived to Geneva and will be delivered to me.

After all these, I even have not been compensated by a penny from Etihad! Good job! ^
