I will give them a call but I'm worried that I won't get anywhere, in which case I will do a chargeback as it's a significant sum (8500 USD) and don't want to pay them twice while they sort out their own inefficient processes.
I had a very similar situation 3 months ago. LH charged my card and then took over 4 weeks to process the refund. The amount in my case was much lower than in yours, so I did not bother complaining. Nevertheless, I was unimpressed.
