I suspect mileages definitely vary. I may have been lucky at BA and unlucky at AA arrivals. Once you get a shower at AA all's fine ... however I seem to be prone to arriving in the peak and have a 30 minute wait ... which wouldn't be so bad if there was actually anything decent to eat. Over in BA, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a shower and staff seem confident in suggesting the wait-time as less than 10 mins. But yes, the shower room in T5 is merely functional but two or three years past a needed makeover. Food and drink choices significantly better to my tastes.

That said, even if I had the choice to go to T5 having landed at T3, I'd go with AA arrivals as it saves time getting into London. Breakfast would have to be on the plane (Hmm, maybe? Just feels odd thinking about that )
