There have been "deport/deported" and "denied" stamps in passports, and those are more likely to cause issues when traveling or seeking visas. But then that too is a case of YMMV.

I've had "cancelled" words stamped or hand-written on my visa/residency stamps/stickers, and it's not been a problem for me.
