I did just that, sending a copy of the receipt to the LH customer service email. Two weeks later I got notice that the refund was approved and that I should get a check within 4-5 weeks.
For what it's worth, there has been a lengthy strike by the German post and they now have a backlog to clear. Maybe part of the delay is due to that. Refunding on a credit card might be faster!
