I don't travel nearly that much, but for a couple years had a job where I was off site, punctuated by about 30 nights/year on the opposite coast (usually about a week at a time, working primarily over weekends and then coming back to the daily commute, too). It helps a lot of you can look up old friends from school or whatever who are now scattered around and catch them for dinner or a hike when you're in their area. Firstly, big thank you for the post and suggestion. I do try it, unfortunately given that my day job is to present all day on my feet for days at a time, after I teach for the day, I usually am exhausted. I go to a bar, drink like a fish, rinse and repeat. Last thing I wanted to do at that point, was to talk.
Hence why I started the other thread about FF's and drinking. I had to cut it out, and I did. This crap creeps up on you quick
I love to fly, and travel - if it has nothing to do with work. Plus most cities I go to are pretty remote...
Looking at hot girls in nice restaurants is fun though.
