Besides UA and Hyatt we collect UR points with the possibility of transferring them to MR. We have Marriott timeshares and accumulate lots of MR points. Their travel packages are the best use of points. Hotel certificate comes at a discount, you can add miles at a 1:1 transfer ratio. If I needed to transfer the UR points I would mentally tell myself they are for the air portion of the package. Then I have a wider range of airlines to transfer my points to miles. Like AA and Delta.
Last yr was the only time I transfered to MR from UR. I see it like IHG not a good deal at all. However I did the transfer in order to put me over the 2MM mark = now a LT Plat.
I will get the pts back by getting a travel pkg that will yield me the # of UR pts I transferred to MR, so I end up as if I did a UR to airline transfer but uped my total MR LT total.
Otherwise I would not have moved any UR to MR. Although in a few cases it may workout, but with tons of MR pts I hav eno need to increase it and believe UR to Hyatt or an airline will produce a much better yield on a reg basis
