Was in the The Pier 1st class lounge 2 days ago and the renovation looks good. Was with 2 other colleagues and we agreed that we now like the The Pier better than the Wing. The 2 reasons to choose the Wing over the Pier are:

1) Cabanas
2) The Noodle Bar

plus the distance if your flight is leaving down near the Wing (which many US flights do).

Reasons for The Pier (and I had not been in the Pier recently so some of this may have been the way it was):

1) It is quieter and more "stately" than the Wing. It was nice and relaxing - not crowded.
2) The restaurant is very nice and the food was good. Better than the 1st class mixed buffet / restaurant in the Wing (we had breakfast - will try lunch menu on way back)
3) Proper bar with bartender making nice cocktails / mocktails
4) The pantry had nice pastries, fruit, drinks
5) The showers are better than the Wing, slightly bigger and the layout is better. I was not cramped unpacking my suitcase like in the Wing sometimes.

The signage says it opens at 6AM, but it opens at 5:30AM and we were the 1st ones in there...stayed for about 4 hours.
