taking a job w 25-30% travel - thoughts?

I'm expecting an offer this week on an exciting job opportunity. Unsure of total compensation at this time but the position sounds interesting and would be a nice step up.

Only thing that concerns me is the amount of travel. Theyve estimated 25-30% of the time on the road with the remainder wfh. Would include both domestic travel for day trips or 1 night overnights as well as an occassional international trip (which could be a couple of weeks since i guess if you need to be in India for 2 workweeks theres really no point in flying back to NYC for the weekend).

I am assuming the travel will get old very quickly. Even if i'm visiting a new, exciting city i'd expect to be working all day, staying in a generic hotel and maybe only having a couple of hours of free time in the evening for dinner and i'd think a Sheraton is a Sheraton in Chicago, Chennai or Colombo and the same goes for an office.

My wife is supportive if this is something I wish to do but with a 1 year old at home i'm a little nervous about being away for potentially weeks at a time (even if its only a once a quarter trip).

Obviously this is my choice to make and nobody out there can make this decision for me, but i'd love to hear from some other people out there with similar levels of work travel. Does it take a toll? Does it strain your marriage or relationship with children? Any/all insight is welcome

Thanks.
