It's true that things really shut down in Sweden, so make sure you stay healthy or if you are planning to have a baby, avoid giving birth during summer. The extend of the shut down in Sweden is a lot worse than Denmark (Mr. used to work with projects with their nordic counterparts and they often have to postpone their projects because the whole department in Sweden is shut down during summer). I saw him getting annoyed because the project was delayed by 3 months because people are on holiday.
The nordic countries are different than Southern Europe. I often get cheap rates for business hotels in Germany, and perhaps the UK (I'm going there and find the prices are low) during summer and weekends.
