I had a similar experience with United Airlines many years ago. I was missing credit for one segment of an Australia to China flight on Singapore Airlines. Although the other segments had posted, United wanted the original RECEIPT in addition to my boarding pass to get credit. Too much hassle and I haven't flown them since. I'd estimate AA and various Oneworld partners have received about a half million in business since then.
